MM - American Idol Top 7 **

The first thing I said to B when we found out it was going to be movie week was I hope nobody will sing I don't Wanna Miss A Thing by Aerosmith, Have You Ever Loved a Woman OR (Everything I Do) I Do It For You by Bryan Adams. I could not take another rendition of these overplayed songs but unfortunately for me; Allison, Matt and Anoop did sing those exact songs! I used to like those songs but they were so overplayed when they were hot back then so whenever I hear them now, there's just no kick left in it for me. In other words BOOOOORING!

Thank goodness, Adam saved the day with another rocking rendition of Born To Be Wild but after all has been said and sung, it was Kris Allen who ended up as my favourite performance for the night with a heartwarming, beautiful version of Falling Slowly!

B's pick of course for the week goes to Danny Gokey. I thought he gave a sweet tender version of Endless Love but I somehow still prefer the original version by Lionel Richie and Diana Ross. Perhaps I was hoping for a more moving performance from Danny.

MM - American Idol Top 10 *

It was Motown fever at American Idol last week and as usual, there were many strong entertaining performances! I was happy to see Adam back in form, although his new clean-cut look minus the black nail polish did take away some of the edge from his rockin' demeanour. Nonetheless, he is back in the game and I was pleased that he received such glowing compliments from all 4 judges so YAY!

I was a little surprised that Matt Giraud ended up in the bottom three last week. Firstly, he sang one of my favourite Marvin Gaye songs, so that already earned him extra brownie points with me. Secondly, he did such a terrific job too! I really hope America will sit up and take notice of this talented young lad, who not only excels in the vocal department but is looking cuter by the week! So to my American friends, please VOTE for Matt the next round!

For this week's Music Monday our top 2 favourite performances go to Adam and of course Matt. B and I both agree that these two sang better than Danny last week, who though was just as strong; did not move us as much as the other two. Happy listening everybody and have a great Monday!

MM - American Idol Top 11 *

It's Monday everybody so you know what that means! It's time for a little American Idol with Mariuca. Last week's performance was a little sombre for me. Even my super rockin' Adam Lambert failed to catch my attention. I don't blame it on the Country theme however for I do love country music as well. Song selection perhaps?

B and I were both impressed with Anoop's performance last week. Like Simon said, he went from Zero to Hero and now, our initial belief that this guy can really sing has been restored! In the end, Alexis Grace was booted off the show and I wasn't sorry to see her leave. She was never my favourite and has not done much to impress me.

As promised here are the two best performances we have selected from last week's show. My favourite performance for the night was by Matt Giraud. I fell in love with his tenderness and vulnerability since he first auditioned and was happy that the judges chose him from the wildcard show. Watching Matt's intensity and emotions pouring into this beautiful number, as his fingers glide effortlessly over the piano just moved me to his side of the court last week! As for B it looks like, his vote still goes to Danny Gokey. We are in full agreement that he did a wonderful job with Carrie's song and this studio recorded version sounds even more amazing!

One of the many reasons I love Music Monday is that I get to go crazy and have some fun! I know many FCC members are eagerly waiting to be first commenter on all the early MM posts coming out soon and that's always so much fun! I also enjoy making weekly dedications to my friends or a loved one while showing off my deejay skills to those who fancy my music taste. I get to see who among my friends are listening to what I'm into and I get to indulge myself in a little Mariuca music for my personal listening pleasure!

Since American Idol is my current TV craze, I've decided to feature two favourite idol performances here every MM, during Idol season of course! The first video will be my own pick and the second video will feature B's pick. Yes, he too wants to get in on some of the action!

After participating in Music Monday for a while now, I've come to realize that choosing a song early on in the week to be featured in my post never works! The best song choices come when you are actually writing the post, when you are feeling the moment, after checking out other people's selections... and then you pick your song!

MM - Faithfully by Journey *

I will never forget this song for two reasons. Firstly, I have always loved this song. I'm a big 80s fan and this is one of my fave tunes from way back then. Listen to the way Steve Perry pours his heart and soul out into this song. There's another version right after by Arnel Pineda. If you have the time to listen to both, let me know which one you prefer. I think Arnel does a terrific job as well but he comes no way close to Steve Perry's soulful version. I love the way Steve brings me completely head and over heels in love with each sentence, each verse, bringing me closer to a heightened climax in the end, only to stop his words; leaving me wanting more!

There's another reason this song remains etched in memory. I was listening to this particular song, singing at the top of my voice when suddenly my roommate (who was driving) and I met with a car accident! We had gone out to get some vanilla coffee one cold winter night when we were hit from behind by another driver. Nobody was hurt but that song kept on playing in the car when we came out from our cars to discuss the damage. I remember being shocked from the accident but I was also still singing along with Journey LOL! ;)

I must also mention the heart-wrenching lyrics to this wonderful number. I am a sucker for lyrics as such, those that make you yearn, wanting something you can't completely put your finger on, but knowing inside that it's something you simply need sigh! Very Late Music Monday *

It's been so quiet here since I had to remove my music box due to the no auto play music rule on Entrecard blogs. I've been pretty down lately. The rainy weather isn't doing much to uplift my spirits, year-end always makes me a tad nostalgic, the Internet slowdown we Malaysians are currently facing also adds to my sluggishness to do anything much but catch up on my sleep. So today, I'm gonna entertain myself and all music fans here with a little something from one of my favourite groups - Goo Goo Dolls. B thinks I have a crush on John Rzeznik. I admit I find the sensual attraction of his wonderful voice and chin cleft oh so appealing but I think I'm more in love with the way he brings each song directly to me with such conviction and dark lyrics. ;)

Instead of placing my Music Monday pick at MPG, where I usually do, I'm gonna feature my very late MM pick here at Mariuca for the very first time. When I first heard this song, I was enjoying my summer break in Chicago with some girlfriends who had come to visit me in Chester from Connecticut. We were all students and decided to visit another bunch of friends in Milwaukee and Chicago. Ever since then, this number has stayed with me over the years, distance and events that have taken place in my life, never failing to bring me back to that one crazy Chicago night with my ladies. Thank you for the memories. :)

Oh and just a little Mariuca update on what's been transpiring here at my blog - my TC widget seems to have gone bonkers on me! I'm frustrated but seeing that it's a blogger problem, I have no choice but to wait this one out. For the past few days, my TC widget, has been displaying my older commentators rather than the current ones on the list. To my current commentators (you know who you are) brace yourself for this change and know that I'm hoping the problem will fix itself soon.
