I will never forget this song for two reasons. Firstly, I have always loved this song. I'm a big 80s fan and this is one of my fave tunes from way back then. Listen to the way Steve Perry pours his heart and soul out into this song. There's another version right after by Arnel Pineda. If you have the time to listen to both, let me know which one you prefer. I think Arnel does a terrific job as well but he comes no way close to Steve Perry's soulful version. I love the way Steve brings me completely head and over heels in love with each sentence, each verse, bringing me closer to a heightened climax in the end, only to stop his words; leaving me wanting more!
There's another reason this song remains etched in memory. I was listening to this particular song, singing at the top of my voice when suddenly my roommate (who was driving) and I met with a car accident! We had gone out to get some vanilla coffee one cold winter night when we were hit from behind by another driver. Nobody was hurt but that song kept on playing in the car when we came out from our cars to discuss the damage. I remember being shocked from the accident but I was also still singing along with Journey LOL! ;)
I must also mention the heart-wrenching lyrics to this wonderful number. I am a sucker for lyrics as such, those that make you yearn, wanting something you can't completely put your finger on, but knowing inside that it's something you simply need sigh! ouch, blessedly nobody was hurt. speaking of accident, I've been on three car accidents before in which in all accidents nobody was hurt. The first one was 7 years ago. Someone jammed brake causing 5 other cars crashed. It was a head on butt hit. Mine was the last one, so blessed lar cause my butt was all right.
then the second one was 3 years ago. I was driving in a straight path, suddenly a car hit me at the front side. The driver just got his license. But when he got out from his car, he blamed it on me. I didn;t want to argue with him, so we went to police station. After both of us being interviewed by sergeant, the driver got summoned. Good thing the sergeant knows how to judge. Phew! :)
And the third one was around 2 years ago. M & I were in a cab in singapore. It was obviously the cabbie's fault. There was a car stopping in front of him but he only brakes last minute, of coz tak sempat lar. blur cabbie! :)
