My Hot Red Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF5! *

This year, I decided to get a new camera as a birthday gift for myself. I was planning to get a new one when and if a great vacation comes my way. But after my pretty, thin-so blog buddy Monica commented on one of my posts that I did not have to wait for a break before getting a new camera, I happily hopped, skipped and jumped to IPC/IKANO and then to The Curve to check out what’s new in the camera world! ihikhik

Excellent parking right in front!

The day started on a good note with B securing a parking spot right at the entrance of the usually packed IPC basement. My hope to bring home a nice new camera was high and our first stop was Harvey Norman, which was where we also purchased our new 50-inch plasma TV recently.

Camera Choices

A big purchase like a new camera requires comparison so it was going to be either a Harvey Norman buy or one from Cam World at The Curve, which was where we headed next. Initially, I was very much into the pink Nikon 1 J1. Yes, the colour played a major part in my interest with this pretty baby. After researching online however, I was immediately drawn to the Lumix DMC-GF5. Smiley

The saleslady behind the counter was not only knowledgeable in the product she’s selling but extremely accommodating with my many silly questions about this camera. After all, I’ve never owned a Digital Interchangeable Lens System Camera! I had my heart set on the limited edition Red Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF5 although white was also very enticing, colour-wise. This camera also costs more than the pink Nikon but I think this is the perfect camera for the current stage of my photo-taking skills. Smiley

The Lumix DMC-GF5 is ideal for one who would love to handle a DSLR camera but still prefer the ultra compactness and ease of using a digital camera with DSLR-like quality and responsiveness, which is where I’m at! Complete with the latest 3" LCD Touch Display for ease of use and creative control, it is also equipped with High quality Full HD video (1920 x 1080), which is available while in photo mode as well. Other features I love about this camera include:

* 12.1 megapixel Live MOS sensor and the Lumix Venus Engine image processor
* Enhanced sensor and auto-focus systems for high speed and image quality
* New Scene Guide and iA, Intelligent Auto Mode. New Scene Guide offers 23 sample professional photos for users to choose and have the camera select the same settings that created the pro photo.
* The widest selection of lenses of any camera in its class, giving users the flexibility and creative control of a DSLR.

Despite having my Lumix for almost a month, I am still learning how to use this camera, taking my own sweet time to improve my photo taking skills. So now, I have a brand new camera to play with. All that’s missing is that awesome vacation I’ve been dreaming of … rindu

Ready to bring on my next vacation!

Games Galore!

Besides B and work, there are two things that can possibly keep me away from the Internet - when my PC or my ISP lets me down OR when I'm hooked on a new PC game! And right now, I'm hooked on several new games. Work has been quite slow for me these past few weeks and there are no major projects that I'm currently working on. So I'm taking this time to catch up on some new PC games.

One of my favorite game genres is time management and my latest craze is Monster Mash. In this game, the villagers of Curly Valley are under attack from some very quirky and bizarre monsters. Your mission is to prevent these mysterious invaders by fortifying Curly Village with various towers, upgrades and defensive armors. There are more than 25 increasingly powerful tower upgrades and 9 unique storybook-inspired scenes. Protect the villagers from the monsters and you'll save Curly Village! I really enjoyed this game and it was pretty challenging too. The last scenario especially was the most difficult. I stayed up the whole night trying to win this level and only managed to complete the whole game after a week! I can't wait for Monster Mash 2 to come out! :)

Another game that I'm currently into is The Sims Carnival SnapCity. Brought to you
by the creators of The Sims, this unique city-building simulation game comes with a puzzle twist. By dropping the falling, color-coded blocks into place, you can build industrial, commercial, and residential neighborhoods to assemble the best possible city. I prefer to build my dream city in Creativity mode. Otherwise, you can try to win goals by rebuilding and improving your city in Story Mode`s 25 unique neighborhoods. And watch out for the natural disasters, catastrophes, and even alien attacks that invade your city when you least expect them! I much prefer this game than SimCity Societies as it has more Sim City features. Nowhere near as challenging as Sim City itself, The Sims Carnival SnapCity does however make a great light & easy version of the original.

So now that the weekend is here, and I don't have any outstanding jobs to worry about, I'll be free to indulge in a whole weekend of fun and games with all the new PC games I've been missing out on. I'm also excited to see what The Sims Castaway Stories is all about. Based on reviews, it sounds and looks promising.

I Love, I Want!

My talented buddy Emila, tagged me with the very interesting
Dream Gadgets Meme. I like the sound of this meme as I get to imagine owning all the lovely gadgets that I'm losing sleep over, but won't be getting any time soon thanks to their high prices. I only have two dream gadgets that I really, really want right now, so here they are!

What do you guys think of this red hot Nokia N76? Recommended retail price is RM1,999, which is why it's on my dream gadget list! I'm currently using a Nokia 7370, which is great, but I LOVE this N76 so this will probably the next phone I switch to when the time comes.

Next is this really cool lime green Sony VAIO laptop! I'm currently using a Dell PC, which is still in relatively good condition, so if I ever get this gadget, it will solely be for the purpose of blogging and playing my PC games. I'm not even sure of the specs, but I'm just totally in love with the color!

Wow, that was fun, imagining owning these cool gadgets! Now, if anybody feels like giving me a pressie, either one would be perfect. :) For this meme, I'd like to see what gadgets are on the minds of Nick, Eric, Bokjae, GK, Bobby, Raghav, Elaine, Rolando, Erisha, Bobo, NAFASg, Uncle Sam, Sandee & Crystal. Share your dream gadgets with me! :)
