Bumped in the Dark!

I walked into a parked car last night and now my right knee is black and blue all over! I bruise easily and the slightest knock can cause me pain and bruises but what transpired last night was no fault of my own. Despite my clumsiness and my tendency to walk into things even when they're right in front of me, yesterday was a whole different story!

We had gone to buy groceries at the nearby Cold Storage @ IKANO. It was ages since I stocked up the fridge so we came home with a lot of bags. B parked the car in our parking spot and we proceeded to carry the grocery bags from the parking lot to our entrance door, about 300 metres apart. With 6 bags in both hands, I managed to nudge the car door close and slowly made my way to the entrance door. I had not taken more than three steps when the lights in the car park suddenly switched off; apparently there was a blackout!

We stopped in our tracks and waited for the emergency lights to come on, which never did so B and I continued walking. I made my way in the dark, a little afraid at the pitch darkness enveloping us. B reminded me to be extra careful and to walk slowly especially when we were nearing this BMW which just loves to park outside his box. For some reason, this car owner always parks his precious BMW halfway outside his allocated space, which blocks the path of residents like me when walking towards the entrance. Basically, we'd have to go around his car in order to get to the main entrance so it really is a nuisance.

I was about to retort with something smart when BANG...I walked right into the BMW! I dropped some of my grocery bags and luckily nothing fell out or broke. But by that time I was limping in pain thanks to the silly BMW and his inconsiderate owner!

I am a little miffed with our condo management for not ensuring proper emergency lighting inside our car park. I understand the takeover from the old management to the current new one is a long process but lighting in the car park should be given immediate attention.

Perhaps my management should look into the Exit Store. Providing cost-effective and quality lighting and signs, since 2004, the Exit Store carry many types of emergency lights, decorative, industrial, indoor, outdoor and hazardous location rated. Some units even come with unique capabilities like remote capability, self-diagnostic testing, and various component add-on upgrades.

It is definitely not safe for anyone to walk in the dark inside the car park, just as was my case last night. Due to our condo management's carelessness and lack of urgency in making sure all emergency lights are in good working conditions and not forgetting the haphazardly parked BMW; I ended up with a big fat bruise and I'm still limping around today!
