Once in a blue moon, when everyone in the group can agree on a date and location, a bunch of us will get together for a reunion over coffee and cakes. All of us used to work in one company but most have left in pursue of personal dreams and career paths.
I left the organization back in December 2004. Wow, it's hard to believe that I've been freelancing from home for close to 4 years now! It all seems like yesterday when the six of us were happily working together in one department. DD and I left the company at the same time but we ended up being neighbours, so I see her more often than the other five. Elle is now working in a reputable organization elsewhere and Emila recently left to pursue her mission and dream as an artist and designer from home.
Anyway, the youngest of the lot, Jue is about to tie the knot at the end of the month so we decided to meet up for one last time before she ended her single hood. Unfortunately, only 4 of us could make it but we did still have lots of fun that afternoon. It was our time to forget about work or other stress plaguing our lives at the moment. It was our session to sit back and chill out with good friends, enjoying coffee after coffee, catching up on who's dating whom, who's cheating on whom, who's switching jobs, who's going on a vacation... the usual girly chit chat and gossip! Emila and I even found some time to exchange stories and tactics on blogging and our ongoing Triumph craze! ;)
Seeing that I'm unable to attend her wedding, I gave Jue her wedding gift early. After weeks of cracking my head, thinking of the perfect wedding present, I visited Shopping.com, to browse through their wide range of products for some cool wedding gift ideas. This site provides product reviews too, which made things so much easier for me. Much browsing and comparing later, I decided to go with a gift other than the usual crystal, cookware, home appliances that we usually see as wedding gifts and opted for something that I'm certain she would truly appreciate - a his and her Issey Miyake perfume set! If there's one thing Jue and I share in common, it is our love for perfume. I think we both don't mind spending a little extra when it comes to our scents. Some would probably think we tend to go overboard with our perfume passion, but I believe that true perfume lovers out there would totally understand!
When she opened the box, her reaction was enough to make me smile throughout the day. Issey Miyake happens to be one of my favourite scents and I was beaming even harder when she said that she almost purchased a bottle for herself just the day before! It's hard to think of the perfect gift for someone, especially if that someone is one that you care about so seeing her genuinely excited expression made all the thinking, browsing and shopping worthwhile!
All in all, it was another wonderful reunion and I'd like to take this opportunity to wish Jue and her fiancée the very best in their upcoming nuptials. From the three of us in this picture and the other two that were MIA that lovely afternoon, we love you and we wish you a lifetime of happiness and love! Congratulations Jue! :)
