The Rude Client!

I’m furious with a particular advertising agency that’s been evading my calls and emails, hoping to avoid paying me for a job I did for them! The job was delivered months ago and yet, whenever I enquire about my invoice; I’m given the runaround with lame excuses like “Our suppliers haven’t paid us” or “The cheque is ready but our boss hasn’t signed it yet” and my personal favourite “Where got invoice? Never receive also!”

Recently, I called the agency again to speak to the big boss there. I was expecting to hear the usual dose of lame excuses. Instead, I was shocked into silence as he began to reprimand me for being “impatient”! He said that the job was no big deal and my cheque was ready a long time ago. He was furious at me for not willing to accommodate his payment “delay” and reluctantly gave his word that my cheque will be mailed the following day. Not totally convinced, I decided to let it go as I was too upset by his reproach. That was 3 weeks ago and until today, I’ve yet to receive my cheque!

Although I hold the highest regard for all my clients, my patience is now running thin. I’m appalled at how unprofessional the so-called big boss of the agency was, not to mention ungrateful and rude! I have a good mind to call him today and suggest a payday loan to help him out. Obviously he’s having difficulties meeting his financial obligations and payday loans just might be the answer. They’re offered at extremely competitive rates, with fast approvals for unsecured loans up to $1500, which would just about cover the amount he owes me. If he’s worried that getting a loan would tarnish his business reputation, he can opt for the Silent Cash Loan Cash Advance, which is totally confidential. No one will ever know that this big time agency has to resort to a little bit of cash advance just to pay a small-time copywriter like me!

Boy, all this talk about my ungrateful client is getting me more riled up and it's only 9am! Thank goodness for Phoebe, my stress-reliever. Good move to recommend him the payday loan!! I am beginning to feel the heat of some agencies giving excuses, some of them even kept quiet.

Oh I know how that feels. I'm currently having this client who owes us a huge sum and they've got all sorts of excuses like the Financial controller got abducted by aliens, etc, etc ...

Ah, the joys of collecting payment ... LOL!

And better still, in the midst of anger u still manage to talk about Cash Advance! That is awesome. It would definitely come in handy for your client. =)

Marzie, I penah kena also. And this one even question the quality of my work. I mean, they didnt say anything when everything was delivered on time (it was an urgent job). And they only managed to mention this when I called to remind them the pending payment.
Their client was fussy and since the agency cannot handle the client, they dragged me into it.
Grrrr and u know what. Its been 4 years now and they still owe me 4k.

Nick, I just don't understand some ppl la! When they want the job, they're like so nice but after that...nada... zilch...quietly disappear! I hate collecting payments that's for sure! ;)

Hey, this year also I got same situasi. Did job for agency, many many changes...and then their client refused to pay them, so agency refused to pay me full amount...boleh????? Angers u know like this, for u and for me he he he... ;)

HI GP, I dont think you loose your patience easily. That fella must be nut for causing you to loose your cool. Anyway, we still have to be sabar no matter what unless you dont want his jobs anymore. :)

Yeah, it takes a lot for me to get pissed off with my clients, this guy definitely takes the cake and no...I have no intention of accepting any more jobs from him! :(:(:(

i knew exactly how you felt.. u remembered the old lady client i had, she's still not paying us for a year ago invoice. gosh, it's so frustrating! your encounter has assured me that every industries is the same. We all have our bad pay master. Hope your debtor will be paying you soon. In the meantime, hang on to Phoebe, chubbs or benji. YOu can have my sweetheart chloe or ariel & brownie if you wan. :)

Payments r always a problem. how big the establishment may be, but getting the money from them is always a head ache.

here too i got tho face similar problems. but in a slightly different way. usually we give a credit period of 21-45 days depending on the customer. but we don't get paid some times even after 100th day. but some how manage to get the payments.

Raghav, I think the bigger the establishment, the harder it is to collect payment! My credit period is 14-30 days and this particular client has exceeded his by several months! Anyway, thanks for coming by. :):):)

i have some times left taking the payments by calling the client.... if the amount is less.

i learnt this with one of my client before 1.5yrs.

i had to get the remaining payment of around 1000USD. but by the time i got it i had spend almost 300+USD for telecon & travelling charges. so now wht i do is to tell them to keep the change as tips & be happy.
if they really have self respect, the pay me back. or else they keep & enjoy it. i just think tht i paid a very rich begger my tip!

tht is how life goes on.
only a few owe me after i started doing this thing.
most of them fear their self respect being hampered.
so they never delay.

That's a nice way to let things go Raghav. I don't mind compromising if they explain their situation to me nicely. But this client reprimanded me when in reality, he was the one in the wrong! Obviously I kept up my end of the bargain but he didn't. It makes me feel my efforts weren't appreciated, which was what upset me the most! :)

When U Feel that u'r efforts weren't paid off.... just think this way like me tht u paid a very rich begger..... & u will start feeling better....

& by the time u forget the pain, u'r money will surely come to you.

hope u'll be buying lots & lots of goodies this xmas to be given to family & friends & will be packing them..... do a small home work & pain to take snaps & put u a write up on ways to pack....

This happens at C's company also, although C's company is the one not being a good paymaster!

Pernah one supplier mengamuk kat office diorg, baru they bayar. Marah2 C pun pernah sbb C is the purchaser kan, and C smartly told the suppliers to call the accounts manager. Hehehe..
