On A Mission!

Being somewhat of a slow & steady blogger with a very unpredictable job, I don’t get the liberty to update my blog as often as I’d like to. Usually immersed with housework, pampering my cats and meeting endless deadlines, I admit with much guilt that I sometimes tend to neglect my blog. On a good day though, when I’m suddenly surged with extra energy and inspiration, I bounce back with non-stop blogging and even churn out several posts in a day! That's just how I function I guess. So before I forget, I’d like to thank all my readers who remain supportive of me during my MIA stints. Your patience is very much appreciated!

Over the past few months, I’ve been quite impressed with several blog buddies who persistently update their blogs with a new post almost daily. These bloggers definitely display exemplary determination and ease in maintaining their blogs so it wasn't surprising for them to reach the much-coveted 100th post in practically no time at all!

I believe it started with Janice who hit her 100th mark first. Despite her hectic schedule as a mom to two wonderful little boys, Janice managed to breeze right through her 100th post. With a huge fan base coupled with energy so infectious you can’t help but warm up to Janice. Her stories over at This Is A Miracle are delightful to read and the pictures accompanying them add to my viewing pleasure. She's simply a great friend to have all around!

While I was still fumbling with post number 65, Nick celebrated his 100th post shortly after Jan. Anything Goes! was one of the first blogs I befriended and I’m still a devoted fan today. Nick writes very well and he blogs on many fascinating topics with some very “interesting” ghost stories thrown in as well. When I read his first one, it gave me chills; so much so that I now avoid visiting his blog at night!

And just when I thought it wasn’t possible for me to feel anymore inadequate and glum about my erratic posting habit, Nessa came along with her 100th post! Nessa comes off as a pretty shy blogger to me. She writes wonderfully and gives out plenty of useful information in her posts, which makes her Mumblings one of my favourite stops.

So now, thanks to the excellent blogging spirit they have shown me, I’m inspired to embark on my mission to reach my 100th post by Mariuca’s 1 Year Anniversary, which will be on 3rd November. That date last year was when I wrote my very first post for Mariuca. This personal mission of mine might appear simple for some. For me, it translates into sacrificing my already limited leisure hours to squeeze in additional blogging time to my already packed schedule!

This post I’m writing now makes it my number 82, which means I have to come up with 18 more posts in slightly over a month! Feasible you think? I'd like to give you an adamant YES, but with my topsy-turvy schedule and frenzied lifestyle, I daren’t claim complete confidence just yet! I am however willing to give it my all. Till then, wish me luck and I hope you’re enjoying a very pleasant weekend with your friends and loved ones.

Best Posts SEO Meme

Revellian tagged me on this new fun SEO meme. I'm a believer of his theories, they've done wonders for my blog, so I'm definitely keen to see what his creation unravels!

Start tag

This is based on the SEO theory that links to posts inside your blog are more important than links to your home page. I have selected three posts I want to promote along with my site’s name. You will do the same thing.

Keep it simple and spread our good work around to both share and build some ratings! Pick three posts that you feel are your best or those you simply want to promote. Your site name is listed with your 3 selected posts beneath.

Once you have your post up: Add the sites and post links of the folks you tagged onto your post. Try to add the site and post links to anyone involved to maximize the effectiveness.

Tag a minimum of 5 people! Try your best not to double tag people so it will spread better! Please actually read the posts from everyone so you can see some really good work from our beloved blogging friends! Make your title a little different from mine to avoid repetitive titles. Please try maintain some friendly updates to your post too.

What's On Your Desktop?

Being the Genie Princess is no small feat! I've been busy making my rounds all over the world, welcoming new passengers to the Magical Flying Carpet, helping them get their post right and simply making new friends. I bet the Genie King must be exhausted too from all the flying around he's been doing with me!

Anyway, one of my new friends that I recently made acquaintance through the Magic Carpet Ride is
Lady Java. She too happens to have some adorable cats of her own and we became friends when we discovered that we share the common love for these fun & fluffy creatures. Lady Java has tagged me on a very easy and interesting tag and it's called "What's On Your Desktop".

Here's a screenshot of my desktop background. I have a lot of icons at the moment since I just started playing several new PC Games so they're all over the place. And I have several documents on the desktop as sometimes I'm in a hurry and just want to save the files immediately instead of going through the different folders they belong to! I do try to maintain a neat desktop but this screenshot seems to say otherwise huh? ;)

As you can see, this is a fairly simple meme to do right? So, all those that I'm about to tag should have no problems putting it up immediately like yours truly. But before I disclose my picks for this meme, here are the rules:

My Desktop Free View Instruction:

Upon receiving this tag, immediately perform a screen capture of your desktop.It is best that no icons be deleted before the screen capture so as to add to the element of fun. You can do a screen capture by:

  1. Going to your desktop and pressing the Print Scrn key (located on the right side of the F12 key).
  2. Open a graphics program (like Picture Manager, Paint, or Photoshop) and do a Paste (CTRL + V). If you wish, you can “edit” the image, before saving it.
  3. Post the picture in your blog. You can also give a short explanation on the look of your desktop just below it if you want. You can explain why you preferred such look or why is it full of icons. Things like that.
  4. Tag five of your friends and ask them to give you a Free View of their desktop as well.
  5. Add your name to this list of Free Viewers with a link pointing directly to your Desktop Free View post to promote it to succeeding participants
Now, let me take a peek at your desktop background! When you're done with this meme, don't forget to leave a comment on this post so I'd know to add you to my list here.

2. Spiff
3. Christy

More Awards for Mariuca!

Okay, it’s that time again. You know, where I have an award marathon and list down all the awards I received in a single post! But first, allow me to extend my sincere apologies to all the wonderful bloggers who were gracious enough to present me with some pretty cool awards. I’m so sorry it took me quite a while to have them up but I'm here now, ready to give your due mention tonight. So let’s do this!

First, I have to thank Santa, Mike, Mark and Jesse for awarding me the Blogging Star award! It's cool to have friends who constantly show you support but it's even cooler when they think you're a blogging star, so thank you guys!

For this award, I'd like to pass it on to the following recipients:

1. Jean
4. Nick
8. MT

Next is the You Make Me Smile award, given to me by two equally awesome guys and one terrific lady! Thanks to Mike, Mark and Janice for making me smile by giving me this award. I love the colours and it's so cheerful and bright, I can't help but smile seeing it here on my blog!

For this award, I'd like to pass it on to the following people that have hopped on the Magical Flying Carpet Ride AND took it a notch higher by posting up either one of the genie icons on their blogs. The Genie Princess is so pleased with their extra effort and would like to say thanks! She is very happy to be given some space to fly around freely on your blog and that definitely makes her smile! Congratulations to the following recipients:

Last but not least, is possibly one of my favourite awards ever! I love this award, I think the design and colours are way cool and it just goes with my blog! For the I'm Fabulous Award, I have to thank Christy, Brown Baron & Adrian for awarding me with it! I feel totally fabulous right now, thanks to all of you who deem me worthy enough to receive this very pretty award!

And for this award, I'd like to pass it on to the following people.

4. Rita
6. WGM
10.Bobo

Before I sign off, I'd also like to give a special mention to a few more bloggers who presented me with the I Love Your Blog award again (I've posted this award earlier) and they are Jean, Uncle Sam, Erisha and Trinity. Thank you so much for giving me this award again. The best part about receiving this award from you is that the feeling's mutual and I love all your blogs too!

Congratulations to all my recipients and may these awards inspire all of you to be better bloggers, spreading love, joy and wisdom throughout the blogosphere!

Reuniting A Lost Love

My good friend Jackie has been hiding something from me, well from a whole bunch of us actually. I just got to know several days ago that she has a long, lost sister whom she's never met! Jackie doesn't even know her own sister's name. If that isn’t one of the saddest things I’ve encountered on the Net, tell me what is!

Ever since we became friends (it was during Janice’s family crisis, that Jackie visited Mariuca’s Perfume Gallery to leave few comforting words Just for Janice), she has been very supportive of both my blogs. Through her lovely blog, she has shown me that kindness and joy do exist in this surreal blogosphere we live in. She even presented me with this lovely award!

According to Jackie, "The Golden Rose award made by me and given out of sheer joy for all that you do. They are the key to my heart which you have won as well as the key to the hearts of many that you already have. It comes attached to no meme or link back....it is purely given out of love and respect!"

Thank you so much Jackie for taking the time to acknowledge my humble blog. I feel truly blessed and am overjoyed to be one of the Golden Roses in your blogosphere!

You’ve been such a great friend to me, and there’s nothing better I’d like to do than to help locate your lost sister by featuring this heartfelt post written by the talented NAFA team. NAFA, may your wish to build a better community for everyone be granted by the Genie King & Genie Princess!

Jackie, take comfort in knowing that many of us are here to help you in your search. There is nothing greater than reuniting the unbreakable bond between a lost love. The joy you’ll savour when that day finally arrives will overcome all the pain you must be feeling now.

----Start Of Article-----

Please spare some time to read this post that we have written on behalf of a good friend of ours in the blogosphere. By reading this post and spreading the word to the others around you, you could reunite two people who shared an extraordinary relationship. You could be the one to reunite two sisters.

Her name is Jackie Hooper, also known as Shinade. Her biological mother was Maxine Soape, but a couple had adopted her. According to her, besides her mother, she also had a younger sister as a family member. Just like her, her sister, who was born in 1959 or 1960 and is three years younger than her, had also been adopted out to another couple, by her own paternal uncle.

Both were born in the same hometown of East Texas, but are now being adopted by two different couples and have been separated since then. The sister is currently staying with her adopted parents in Pueblo, Colorado.

Jackie has never stood a chance to watch her younger sister grow, and has never even known what her sister’s name is.

As painful as it is to be worlds apart from your friends, it is even more painful to be worlds apart from your own flesh and blood. So readers, we hope that you can show some sense of empathy towards Jackie ‘Shinade’ Hooper who longs to rebuild her life with her younger sister whom she holds very dear in her heart throughout the years.

This is your chance to do something good for someone in our global society who is in need of our helping hands.

If you can provide any information about Jackie’s sister that would be able to assist Jackie in her search, we urge you to keep us in the loop or directly inform Jackie at her blog. Your liberality towards helping out in this search would be greatly appreciated by all of us here, but the one who would be most thankful to you is Jackie herself.

A little kindness goes a long way. Readers, please show your compassion towards someone who wants nothing else but to reunite with her beloved younger sister once again. They share a strong kinship, and they deserve to be together till the end of time.
Please read this special message from our friend, Jackie, and start doing your part in finding her long lost sister.

“My only message would be that I would so like to have the opportunity to get to know her and her family. I know she has children also. And, that I love her even though I don't know who she is or where she is.” – Jackie ‘Shinade’ Hooper

Rudolph Returns!

Christy tagged me to do this blog lib meme created by Liz of Successful Blog. Here are the rules as posted on Liz's blog:

1. Copy the unfinished story below into your post box.
2. Fill in the blanks to finish the story. For most of the blanks use a blogger’s name, a trait, a post title, a blog title — get creative. Finish each sentence in an unexpected way. You can find plenty of links to spark your imagination at the A-Z directory.
3. Link the text you added back to the blog or blogger you’re referencing.
4. Be creative. Change the words or storyline as you wish in order to fit in the links you like.
5. When you’re done, leave a link with the title to your version of the story in the comment box below.

Here is the story template:

Title: _______________________________

_____ was _____ , when out of the blue _____. You might think this is strange, but in _____ such things happen all of the time.

Our brave and quirky hero knew exactly what to do — _____, but our brave and quirky hero had no _____.

Seeking help for this dilemma, our hero headed down the road to _____.

The road passed three creatures — each of them was more interesting than the next. The first was _____. The second was _____. The third was _____. Our brave and quirky hero ran the rest of the way, and when he got there, he got another surprise!

“_____!” our hero exclaimed.

“_____,” _____answered.

“I was _____, when out of the blue _____.” our brave and quirky hero said, knees shaking. “Could you spare _____ ?”

And so it passed that _____ gave our brave and quirky hero _____ AND _____ and all was well.

You might think this is strange, but in _____ such things happen all the time.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And this is my finished story: If you find yourself in the story consider yourself tagged (Adrian, Jan, Emila, Santa, Morgan, Spiff, Bobby, Zubli, Jean, Magical Golden Cat, Mike, Jesse, NAFA, Uncle Sam, Jackie, Blog Elf, Rolando and Amber) and good luck!
Title: Rudolph Returns!
The Genie King was happily baby-sitting Amos & Zac, when out of the blue the Genie Princess & Genie Buddy appeared in front of him. They brought with them the Blog Elf, who was screaming away, denying that he had kidnapped Rudolph. You might think this is strange, but in the Land of Faraway such things happen all the time.
Our brave and quirky hero knew exactly what to do — he jumped up and tried to rouse Santa who was fast asleep; exhausted from searching for Rudolph the whole week. Santa was too tired to wake up, so our brave and quirky hero dragged the Blog Elf to Rolando's Playground and using his loudest thunderous Genie voice tried to scare the Blog Elf into submission. He threatened to send the Blog Elf off to Mars if the elf won't admit to kidnapping Rudolph but the Blog Elf still refused to talk!
Seeking help for this dilemma, our hero headed down the road to visit Spiff the Spaceman and borrow the key to Spiff's spaceship.
The road passed three creatures — each of them was more interesting than the next. The first was the Wiseman Charlie. The second was the sweet talking Master Zubli. The third was the Tiny Chef, who serves delicious magical cookies that make you remain skinny no matter how many you devour! Our brave and quirky hero ran the rest of the way, and when he got there, he got another surprise!
Magical Golden Cat! What are you doing here? Oh, Jackie and Jesse the Cat are here too? How dare you have a party without me?” our hero exclaimed.
“Spiff is on a hot date with Bella so he left me in charge! Plus, you're too busy gallivanting on your Magic Carpet to grace our party!” Jesse slyly purred.
“Oh, okay then, he he! Anyway, I was having fun playing with NAFA Dog and the kids when out of the blue, the cheeky & cute Blog Elf appeared and now, I need to borrow Spiff's spaceship to threaten that mischievous elf with a sentence to Mars until he agrees to return Rudolph to Santa.” our brave and quirky hero said, knees shaking from running so fast. “Could you spare me his key and some perfume to freshen up with while you're at it? It's a hot day and I'm all sweaty from the running!”
And so it passed that Jackie gave our brave and quirky hero the key to the spaceship AND the mighty Genie King used it to scare the Blog Elf into admitting that he did kidnap Rudolph, so all is well again!
You might think this is strange, but in the beautiful Land of Faraway, such things happen all the time.
Hello World!
Today I officially became an aunt to an adorable teeny weeny niece!
Meet Isabella! She's the first baby for my younger sister Intan, and is also the first grandchild in the family!
Isabella was born today, 14 September 2007 at 11.08am. She weighed in at 2.96 kgs.
Is that a smile I see? She's a Virgo baby, will that make me her favourite aunt since I'm also a Virgo?
Nite nite sweetie. Welcome to the world!
