When I first found out that we’ll be celebrating Raya in Tokyo, I was a bit apprehensive. Besides Disneyland, can Tokyo satisfy the excitement and fun I seek in vacations? What sort of shopping can I do there if everything is supposedly so expensive? And just how expensive is expensive? What about the food? Plus I don’t know any Japanese!

As the days went by, I found myself enjoying every bit of Tokyo, and then some! The weather was cool, a welcomed change from Malaysia’s hot and humid conditions.
The people were friendly and extremely polite. I find the ladies in Tokyo very chic and it was fun to see them dressed in funky clothes, with fancy boots and coats to complete their look.
Spending Raya in Disneyland was extremely memorable!

The streets of Tokyo are very safe and clean. I especially enjoyed walking to “the building” near our hotel that closes at 4am, to shop with the locals who do their shopping after midnight to accommodate their busy day schedules.

The food was also great as long as we had our guide to help us out with the menu as most restaurants don’t carry English menus. Mc Donald’s prawn burger was our personal favourite. Aside from being relatively cheap, it was really yummy!
Shopping was equally cool as we found some really neat stuff at reasonable prices. Customer service was excellent. Even our hotel, Villa Fontaine, was first-rate with impeccable service - no need for complaints or tantrums! Everything was available to cater to our every whim and fancy.
In a nutshell, we had a fabulous time everywhere we went, despite my ankle sprain and B's sniffles. It was actually pretty sad to say goodbye to one of the best vacations we’ve had in a long time! Selamat Hari Raya and Maaf Zahir Batin.
