Ticket to EURO!

When B first told me about his Euro Trip several weeks back, I was all for it! He's been working so hard and a nice football trip was exactly what he needed. The purpose of the trip was basically for him to watch the Quarterfinal match between Germany and Portugal. It wasn't even a work assignment, more like a free vacation for him, so how could I not encourage him?

He on the other hand, wasn't as enthusiastic about the trip as I was. His main concern was the travelling time it would take him to reach Zurich and all the waiting around in airports, which was bound to be tiring. It would take him one whole day to get to Zurich, the following day would be spent travelling to Basel for the match, and the next day he would already be on his way home to KL before he could even say the word jet lag! Just one day to soak up Switzerland and no time for any major shopping or sight-seeing. Furthermore, this trip would see him travelling abroad by himself, with no friends or colleagues to keep him company. Being alone in a strange country no matter how experienced or old you are, is always somewhat scary albeit exciting. I guess it was a ball of mixed emotions for B.

Anyway, I was all for his EURO trip and continued to psyche him up so he would actually look forward to the trip. Football is his number 1 passion and this would be an excellent opportunity for him to get away for a while and be a part of the EURO fever that takes over the world every four years. I was truly excited for him and encouraged him to go without me. After all, it was a work-sponsored trip, so with a free flight and accommodation thrown in with the match, why not?

But that was all before "the incident"! When the incident happened, he was less than
a week away from taking that flight to Zurich. I never expected a terrible tragedy to happen right before his trip and I was suddenly very sorry at how gung ho I had been about his Switz trip. It was definitely not a good time for me to be home alone, especially when all I could think about was "the incident". So I was very depressed and moody that whole week; worried sick at the thought of being alone after what we had just gone through. It was already too late for him to cancel and I wouldn't dream of asking him to - I wouldn't want to be responsible for making him miss one of the greatest football moments of his life! We even tried to see if we could get a flight for me to Switz, but since it was all very last minute, there were no available flights. So after much tossing and turning, we finally got me a "baby-sitter" who kept me company during B's absence. You know who you are, THANK YOU! :)

When B got home from his EURO trip and showed me all the wonderful pictures he took, I knew I did the right thing by encouraging him to go. He was extra lively and extremely animated as he related his experience to me. Not usually the chatter-box, he couldn't stop telling me everything that he did, saw and experienced; as usual trying to bring back his destination to me, so I wouldn't feel left out at being Left Behind! ;)

Before he left for his trip, I reminded B to get me a fridge magnet and to take as many pictures of Switzerland. I think he did a great job this trip, capturing his best moments in Zurich and Basel. And of course, I'd like to share another one of his amazing adventures (without me!) here with my blog friends. I hope you'll enjoy the pictures as much as I did. Maybe one day I'll get to visit Switzerland too but until then, I'll have these great pictures to keep that dream alive!

Oh yeah, I'd also like to show some special love for Jean, LJ and Debbie for "keeping me company" online during B's absence - you ladies are the best!
And I'm sure many of you will be staying up to catch the finale between Spain and Germany early tomorrow morning. B and I are rooting for Spain, how about you? Happy watching to some of my football friends here like Faizal, Nick and Adrian! :)

Awards Gala!

I know, I know...it's been ages since my last Award ceremony and I'm so way behind in thanking my friends for all the lovely awards they've given to both my blogs. As always, I like to collect all my awards first before displaying them here and eventually at Mariuca's Award Gallery. That and my busy work schedule can be attributed to the delay in handing out these awards. Anyway, there are so many people I'd like to pass on my awards to so without further ado, let the Gala begin!

First of all, I'd like to thank Cindi who presented this lovely Best WAHM Site Award to both Mariuca and Mariuca's Perfume Gallery. Although I have yet to hold the title of MOM, I do have three adorable cat babies of my own, which according to Cindi, fits just right with her award criteria! Oh and this one is especially for me; you have to earn this award from Cindi herself, so I won't be giving it out to anyone... sorry guys! ;)

Next is another special exclusive picture award given to me by the adorable Bokjae! I'm afraid this one is solely for me too he he! ;)

****************************************************************************************************************************************

Okay, now over to the awards that I will actually be passing out and I'd like to start with the You Cheer Me Up Award, presented to me by Ann. Mariuca Speaks to Debbie

I first met Debbie, author of Ramblings of The Phat while surfing on Blog Explosion. I came across her post on Top 5 Fave Wedding Songs and I noticed she had Edwin McCain on her list. That caught my attention as I love the 2 songs Debbie listed by Edwin McCain as her choice. So I left her a comment, and from there, our friendship blossomed into what it is today!

We became fast friends and eventually exchanged links and now, she is a regular visitor at my blog and one of my favourite bloggers around. As a copywriter who much prefers reading blogs that are well written, I'm happy to say that Debbie has one of the best blogs around. Her posts are very nicely written, she uses good grammar and English and she puts her personality into every post. She is not afraid to reveal herself, she is not afraid to cry when she needs a good cry and she keeps her posts relatively short and sweet so you don’t tire halfway though reading, which is exactly how I like them!

And today, Debbie has been kind enough to feature me at her blog, for an Interview with Mariuca! I got her email early yesterday morning and was pleasantly surprised that she has chosen me to be at her blog. Mariuca's first interview was with Bobby Revell and now, it's my turn to speak to Debbie! :)

Thanks Deb for featuring Mariuca at your lovely blog! I hope all my friends will drop by Debbie’s blog to check out Mariuca's Interview and show Debbie some love as well! Out of my many wonderful blogger friends in the blogosphere, Debbie is definitely one of my favourites and one of the sweetest! Have a good weekend everyone. :)

Update on "The Incident"!

Hola! How is everyone doing this wet Wednesday afternoon? After I wrote my last post on "the incident", I received many comments and messages asking me for updates. The thing is, B and I waited for news on the incident to appear in the papers, but we never came across any. So B and I decided to do our own detective work!

First, it was B who oh so nonchalantly stopped by the Guard's post at our floor after work for a little "chat"! He came back up all breathless, brimming with some "news" but after relating his story to me, I felt that we were still missing some parts to the story. So yours truly and B (again!) went down later that night, this time under the pretence of checking our mail box for letters! ;)
Before you read on, do bear in mind, this is what we gathered from witnesses who actually saw the incident, but no one can be 100% sure of what actually happened unless you were there right alongside the couple. Oh and by the way, the guy was 25 years old and not 20 as initially reported here.
So apparently, this couple just moved into our condo building like 3 months back. And around a month ago, they also had another loud quarrel, which saw the guards having to go up to their unit to intervene! The guy was already perched on the balcony during that first major argument, threatening to jump! The Guards had to talk him out of it and somehow managed to do so the first time around. So obviously, there has been a history of this type of violent argument happening prior to the incident itself.
After hearing that, we figured that the same thing must have happened on that fateful night. We spoke to two different Guards and both of them told us the same thing - that the GF (one way or another) pushed her BF and that's when he fell. This is still very vague as we still do not have concrete evidence on that and what we heard was based on what they "saw" that night. Our theory is that the guy must've
already been sitting on the balcony; rendering himself vulnerable to the "push" that supposedly happened. It's impossible for the GF to push him down seeing that the balcony is actually pretty high for anybody to easily topple over. Plus, the guy was rather heavy-set compared to the girl who looked much smaller than him. Anyway, like I said earlier, we're still not completely sure as to what actually happened, but this is the bits & pieces we managed to scrape from the Guards, neighbours and other people who "discussed" this matter with us.

And yesterday, I also found out from my neighbour DD, that news on this incident did appear in Metro paper a few days back. We both didn't see the paper on that day but according to the report, the argument happened when the GF started to pressure the guy about getting hitched. He on the other hand, was not as keen seeing that he was still in the process of a divorce from his wife! That was all we gathered from the paper, there was no mention of a push or anything to that extent.

So that is all the update I have for u right now. I'm also trying to keep this post short and sweet as I'm trying to put this terrible episode behind me now. GP has been one very stressed out genie ever since the incident and I'm still having trouble sleeping soundly too! :(
Before I pen off, I'd also like to show some love for everyone who commented on my freaky post. I felt much comfort seeing some of my best buddies hopping over quickly to show me some support during this time. A big THANK YOU goes out to Adrian, LadyJava, Debbie, Jackie, Jean, Nessa, Emila, Nick, Rozella, DD, Lex, Lxndreasb, Maiylah, Michael, Roxy, Kim, Susie, Nanjo, ECL, Farah, Tammy, Tina, NAFASg, Bono, Erisha, Liza, Daisy, Janice, Bobby, Sushi, Billy, Shae Shae, Trinity and Sandman. Thank you for all the hugs and all the comforting words, I truly appreciate each and every one of you for stopping by! Let's hope something spectacular happens to all of us this week okay? :)

Beautiful Baby Gifts

I've never truly appreciated the chat feature at Facebook until recently when my younger sister, Isabella's mom, buzzed me for a chat at 3am. I wasn't sure what time it was over in Bristol, but I was glad to be up working late that night. Otherwise I would have missed out on all the cute stories of my baby niece!

Apparently Isabella is getting oh so chubby, which is exactly how I like babies to be! Round and chubby makes her even nicer to hug! Doesn't she look like a little snow baby in this adorable outfit? Her appetite is healthier now and she "demands" to share whatever her parents eat. Otherwise, she might just throw a tantrum! I can just picture her in tears, demanding for this and that. That I thought was totally adorable, perhaps she might even follow in her aunt's footsteps and be a tantrum thrower! She is now smart enough to "bully" her parents too, by refusing to sleep and much prefer to be the night owl! Sounds familiar? ;)

It was cool catching up with my sister at 3am. I was complaining about having so many baby gifts to buy for my friends who recently gave birth. The thing is, I can always go into a Mothercare store and get a great gift for a newborn but for special friends, I'd like to think of something fancy. To get me going on some cool gift ideas, she referred me to Lil' Baby Cakes, which left me marvelling at the wonderful Baby Gifts, Baby Shower Gifts and Diaper Cakes you can get for newborns there. Everything is so gorgeous! If I were a mother and I received such a lovely gift as this Garden Party 4-tier Diaper Cake for instance, I'd be ecstatic and might just keep it for display instead of using it! :)

Okay peeps, that's about it for this week! hope everyone is enjoying their weekend and I'll be at FB later should anyone be in the mood for a late night chat! :)
